Do any of you recognize this? This was our home in Virginia for two years. It looks very much the same -- the big tree in front is, of course, much bigger now, and we had a pretty little dogwood in the front yard that's no longer there, but I can't see much else that has changed in 18 years. According to zillow.com, this house is now valued at $441,500 -- and we sold it in 1990 for $199,000 -- but then, we'd just bought it in 1988 for $134,000. Think maybe we've hung onto the wrong house for all these years -- the house in Logan sure hasn't appreciated like that! Interesting to note, though, that a couple of years ago, zillow had valued this house in Burke at just over $600,000 -- says something about the real estate market, doesn't it?
On the left is the Erskines' home, on the right is the house we rented for three years, before buying the one next door.
This is the deck that Bruce built . . . the path up the backyard and gate leading to the elementary school are still there. The yard looks nice, the hillside is covered with ivy, the rail fence and retaining wall Bruce put in are still there. I miss the honey locust trees that used to cover this side of the slope.
Here's your old stomping grounds -- White Oaks Elementary School, where David attended grades 2-6, Tara K-4, and Mindy K-2. Good times!
