More at the Riveras'

Bruce has enjoyed building -- or helping the kids to build -- furniture for their homes. It's a slow process, but each of the older four has at least one nice piece to remember him by -- and hopefully more will follow! A little over a year ago, Mindy flew to Utah for a week to get started on this entertainment center -- her design, adapted from a picture she'd seen in a magazine or catalog or something. They got things going that week, then Bruce finished it a bit at a time until he was able to deliver it to her this past spring. Together they stained it and got started on the finish -- and we put the final coats on it last month when we were there. It's a beautiful African mahogany, Mindy and Eric picked out the dark stain. Don't be fooled by the seeming simplicity of the design -- it was a complicated piece to build! Here it sits between their family room and kitchen temporarily -- they plan to move it to a dark painted wall once they get the centerpiece for it -- a 50-something inch plasma TV. Guitar hero and Nintendo wii will never be the same! "I can't wait to watch a movie on this bad boy. No, imagine Monday night football! No, no, imagine General Conference!"

It was so good to see him. He's out traveling in Asia for at least until Christmas - but I have a feeling he'll stay there much longer. He's keeping a blog of all of his travels http://kennygettinlost.blogspot.com/ if you want to take a look.
