New Jersey Shore, the Sequel

It seems only fitting that our last day in New Jersey, we made it back to the shore. It was later in the day, because Dave wasn't able to get off early, the tide was higher, the water rougher, and the waves bigger. We bought boogie boards at a $5 store, and they were mostly good for popping out from underneath you when the wave hit. You can see above Bruce studying the water, trying to decide if he really wants to get into it -- turned out, he didn't.

I like this shot because of the two shadows of (I think) Bruce and Angela on the sand and the foam.

I did get in the water this time -- the orange, well, um, whale out there -- that's me. I couldn't find my bathing suit -- turned out it was in the outside pocket of my suitcase where I didn't think to look. Probably a Freudian slip on my part! :-)

Bruce struck up a conversation with a friendly fisherman, who had caught this incredibly strange-looking creature -- a skate. Turns out skates are a family of flat-bodied rays found in warm and temperate seas (although the New Jersey shore wasn't particularly temperate that day). To see a picture of one that isn't curled up in a bucket, go to http://www.cyhaus.com/marine/sharks/skates.jpg

What a good time we had! But can I tell you how much I wish there were ten more people in this picture? Five Laudies, two Riveras, and three Christensens would have made it absolutely perfect!

I wish we all could have been there too! So much!
