Zone Meeting

We had zone meeting in Tokorozawa on Friday, May 15th -- we went with the other missionaries in our district on the train. From Higashi-Fussa Station, near our apartment, we had three train transfers and a fair amount of walking, taking about an hour and a quarter to get there -- only to have one of the zone leaders tell us we could have driven it in 20-25 minutes, about 14 miles. Of course he wasn't calculating the getting lost part which is often how we travel. :-)

Again, such impressive leadership and training from these young missionaries. We learn from them every day and hope we are serving well and helping them to serve well.

After the meeting the collective decision was to have lunch at an Italian pizza place, of all things. Here we are with the sisters, the elders were at the next table.

Elder Loi-on and Elder Pena opted to eat elsewhere, they headed off to a noodle place (udon) and then got on the train back to Fussa. Unfortunately, just as they were getting off the train to transfer, Elder Loi-on realized he was without his wallet. Elder Pena was going out a different door and was far enough away there wasn't time for Elder Loi-on to tell him to get back on the train. So Elder Loi-on watched the train doors close and the train pull away, with his wallet sitting on the bench he had just vacated. His wallet held his cash for the month, his mission and personal debit cards, his passport papers....  They had to wait until that particular train reached the end of its route, and then they were told that yes, his wallet was there, and they had to go to Seibu to pick it up. I'm not familiar with Seibu, but these missionaries were -- it was a place they had actually wanted to visit.... but they hadn't, because it's outside the mission boundaries. So Elder Loi-on called President Wada, explained the situation, expressed his concern that Seibu was outside the mission -- and President Wada said, "So, you go. You come back." And they did, recovered the wallet and everything in it -- and Elder Loi-on said they took a lot of pictures along the way!
