Visiting a Japanese Cemetery

Driving near the Azalea Garden in Ome, we spotted a cemetery which we were anxious to explore. Since we are unfamiliar with Japanese customs, we were reluctant to get out of the car and walk around, not wanting to do anything inappropriate. It was very quiet, we didn't see another person, but still wanted to be careful not to offend. So most of these pictures were taken from the car. (We hope that was okay!)

We found the very old rock wall and steps an interesting contrast to the new-looking granite markers just above.

Giant bamboo growing across the road from the cemetery.

With the faucet to the left of this structure, we're assuming these are containers to carry water. Bruce believed they're made of bamboo but we saw at least one that was plastic.

This marker is for pets. See below.

And here's the view of Ome and surrounding areas from the top of the cemetery hill.
