Early Morning Seminary!

Bruce and I attended seminary one morning and then substituted for the teacher the next day. Seminary is held in one of the non-denominational chapels on base -- all the students go to the high school on base so it's much more convenient than going off base to the church. There are only eight students -- six were present the day we visited the class. Because they'd had a successful scripture chase activity at Mutual the night before (they competed against their parents and won!), their teacher rewarded them by having class outside and letting them finish off the previous night's refreshments -- ice cream bars for breakfast!

I'm not sure meeting outside was a reward to all of them -- a couple of the girls were preoccupied with bugs ("I don't like nature!"). But it was a really good class. We were so impressed with the seminary teacher -- mainly because she was able to get them to answer questions and talk!  The next day, when we taught, they were so quiet -- sleepy, I know, but still.....!

Notice how bright and sunny it is at about 6:30 a.m. There's no daylight savings time in Japan, the sun comes up well before 5:00. And consequently, it's pretty dark by 7:30 or so p.m.  I haven't decided which I like better -- more daylight hours in the morning or evening.....
