This picture hangs in the Kichijoji Stake Center, which is the meetinghouse adjacent to the mission home. I love it and wanted to share it.
Bruce has been fascinated watching this building, under construction, which we pass daily as we walk to and from our apartment to the Honbu. Very different from the kind of building construction he's used to!
This is a sign on a lumberyard we pass each day. I scanned this with my iPad using Google Translate, but the translation made no sense at all. Still, I wanted to share it because it's pretty cool looking!
I love hydrangeas!
Yes, this is aloe vera yogurt! Tastes okay, not much flavor to it.
Here's Bruce, showing off the cucumber growing on our little (very little) patio. This was planted by Elder Powell. Unfortunately, the plant is succumbing to some kind of fungus, we fear, and we haven't a clue what to do about it (and no time to research it). We'll probably get a couple more cukes from it before it's total demise.
And here's Elder Adamson, ready to go in to the office. Well, almost. The plaid pajama pants might not be appropriate....
Quite out of character for me to take (and post!) a close-up selfie, but wanted to share my new haircut. I had to do something to at least try and deal with this humidity -- a good hair day was lasting me about 20 minutes, tops. I had it cut at the beauty shop on the base and am pretty happy with the results -- at least it's an improvement on the out-of-control frizz I was experiencing!
Sister Bybee and I have fun sharing pictures of funny Japanese-to-English translations from billboards, store signs, menus, whatever. This one was actually on the base, in the restroom at the commissary. I share this with affection, not criticism -- and great respect for anyone who has the ability to translate with any degree of proficiency!
During our week of commuting to Kichijoji, we passed a fish market daily and finally had to stop and check it out. I've never been a very enthusiastic fish or seafood eater, but Bruce just loves it (for the most part, he's had to eat out to get it all these years....).
Yeah, this just doesn't make me hungry...
