On the Train

Our first day learning our new responsibilities as mission office couple, we took the train from Fussa to Kichijoji, a 45 minute ride. I'm always surprised to see children alone on the train, and this morning was no exception.

This little guy got on all by himself, stood facing me for a few minutes, then when he turned around I couldn't resist snapping a picture (wish the light was better, doesn't do his cute hat justice...). He rode the train for two stops, surrounded by adults, and when it came time to get off, he put his head down and burrowed through the crowd to the door. It's amazing to me to see little children by themselves riding the train, walking, or riding bikes on very busy streets to go to school. I'm still intimidated and nervous riding the train, but when this little boy got on, I had to tell myself to grow up!
